In collaboration with Architecture and Furniture Design Studio, Fadi Sarieddine, MadeByNative created unique leather solutions with distinguished details for two distinct pieces of furniture – The Swaddle Chair and The Division Belt. Unveiled at Design Days Dubai 2016, each piece highlights unconventional approaches to crafted, functional furniture pieces.
Located at the foot of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, celebrating its fifth year, Design Days showcased 34 regional and global designers exhibiting collectable and limited edition pieces.
Over a period of a few months, Fadi Sarieddine and MadeByNative collaborated from concept development to final product. The Swaddle Chair and The Division Belt is an outcome of both studio's core practices, each piece reflecting a detail orientated approach to design and craft.
As the name suggests, The Swaddle Chair can be used to wrap the user like a human cocoon, using an attached soft cotton quilt. The chair uses two different leathers and two different stitch techniques that result in the chair being shown in three possible variations. The Division Belt is an alternative shelving system. Using hole punched belts, marble, wood and brass objects are suspend in-between each belt system. Each belt allows for movement in a vertical access resulting in a modular and fully-customisable freestanding cabinet.
Each of the pieces were sold as part of a limited edition range during and after Design Days Dubai.
